From May 21-23 Bethlehem hosted the Palestine Investment Conference. PIC-Palestine showed the international community the scope of opportunity for private investment in Palestine, featured the entrepreneurial spirit of the Palestinian private sector, and demonstrated the commitment of the Palestinian National Authority to enact the necessary legislative reforms to create a sound business enabling environment. The conference consisted of more than 1500 participants from around the world, including the Middle East, Europe, Asia and North America. Key speakers included the Quartet's Special Representative to the Middle East, H.E. Tony Blair, the US Deputy Secretary of the Treasury, Mr. Robert Kimmit, and Palestinian Prime Minister Salaam Fayyad.
